The Drugs Don't Work!

Ever get those days/weeks when you feel that you can't get a thing done and you're running out of time?

I seem to be making lists to prepare myself for all the things that are coming up in the next month or so. I have to say I feel a little overwhelmed. In case you don't know, I do have a problem with sleep and after over 10 years of trying everything for a good night's sleep, I finally asked the doctor for sleeping tablets! More on that in a minute. Let me give you the list of the 'big' things I have coming up (if I added medium and little things I'd run out of space).

The Big 7
  1. Holding Paradise published on 14th April.
  2. I plan and run a writer's workshop.
  3. My youngest son has a birthday.
  4. My oldest son moves back in because he lost his flat.
  5. Book Launch online party on 25th April.
  6. Two 6000 word assignments due in to University 7th May.
  7. I release a CD single of the song taken from Holding Paradise
So my desk is covered with sheets of paper as well as notebooks, textbooks and goodness knows what else.

Now back to the drugs. Those pesky sleeping tablets have left me so groggy and dazed in the daytime that I decided it was best to come off them and have no sleep! I was completely washed out by the sleeping tablets and with so much coming up I couldn't cope. So I ditched the drugs and today I finally feel the fog clearing.

The Big 7 list of things to do, although still daunting, feel almost manageable.

It's Friday and a busy weekend is due, meaning that none of the Big 7 will get done. Panic is setting in but I've resolved to have a great weekend. The Big 7 can wait (until Monday anyway).

Here's to a stress free weekend everyone!

Holding Paradise - Launch Party Preparations

Being excited six weeks before a party is normal, right? I've sent out the invitations, I've given the party a theme - nothing else for me to do is there? Oh yes, mustn't forget the booze.

When I told my friend that the launch party for Holding Paradise was a virtual one she did feel cheated. "What no real champagne?" she said with a pitying look in her eye. So then she decided that she will be sitting with me next to my laptop on the day of the party with some real champagne! I can't grumble about that. She can also control how much I consume as the party does last twelve hours!

If you haven't RSVP'd yet (and yes you are invited) then here's the place with all the party details and how you can join the fun.

More things to be excited about!

I had my first book review from Sophie Hedley of Been There, Read That Reviewed the Book and you can read it here...

With all this excitement, I think I need that champagne now.

Party Time! The Holding Paradise Book Launch

Hi Everyone

I'm very excited and pleased to announce the publication of my first novel, Holding Paradise.

I'd be really happy if you could join my online party taking place here on my blog on Friday 25th April 2014 between 9am and 9pm (GMT) to celebrate with me, make new friends and have a chance to win a copy of Holding Paradise.

On the day post something that shows your idea of Paradise. It could be a picture, poem, flash fiction or anything that you can display on your blog. If you don't have a blog you can use Twitter or Facebook.

For Twitter use @FranClarkAuthor so I know to head over to see your entry. For Facebook and blogs leave a link to your entry in the comments box.

Judging will finalise very soon after the party but you must sign up below to take part!

Please visit, follow and comment on as many links as you can

And please share this event with your friends. Any 'Follows' would be appreciated and reciprocated!

So, here's the sign up list and I'll see you for some virtual champagne at the party...

Marketing Your Book

Holding Paradise is out soon so I'm nervous and excited, *does a cartwheel* woohoo! (Actually this is a virtual cartwheel as I just had a big lunch).

So, I am an amateur at this d├ębut novel business but I know a fair amount of my time has to be spent marketing the said book. But I seem to be spending more time reading about how to market a book than I do actually marketing it.

Firstly I'm supposed to be on Twitter for half an hour a day. Not selling my book but talking about it. In just 141 characters? Sadly I've failed the first hurdle.

Secondly I should be building up my author platform. Well there's this blog but I don't have all the other stuff the experts mention like, Pinterest, Instagram and so on. Oh, but I did get a new Facebook page - so not a complete failure. It could do with a few Likes as it looks lonely and sad right now https://www.facebook.com/FranClarkAuthorPage

Thirdly I need some kind of launch party. Check! I'm having a launch party! It's coming soon and so are the details. Which brings me to my next 'uncheck' - I haven't designed the invitations... But I'm working on it.

Another big Check in my favour is the organising of a blog tour. This will be announced soon and you'll be able to discover some new blog hosts while this goes on, not to mention some giveaways. Excited? Well that makes two of us.

See you soon.
